Salmon and berries are significant sources of food, joy and healing for our people. The word in Haíɫzaqvḷa for fish is our word for salmon: miá. The word for berry is our word for salmonberry: ǧúláli. Salmon and salmonberries are cultural keystone species - so intertwined with our way of life that the loss of either would cause significant damage. This design honours their place as our relations.
I am happy to share these gifts with the world and highlight the art of Blake Carpenter, a Haíɫzaqv artist.
