All four of my grandparents survived Indian Residential Schools. Many of my Aunts and Uncles also survived the schools. I created this design to uplift their resilience. They were children who should have been with their families and in their homelands, but instead were ripped away and institutionalized simply for being born Indigenous. Despite all of the heartache and trauma, these children grew into healers and teachers. They fought for their language and culture. Their strength gives our communities the strength to continue to seek wellness and fight colonial injustice. For them, we survive, so that one day our descendants will thrive.
A portion of the profits from these hoodies will go to culture & land-based healing initiatives in the Haíɫzaqv homelands.
